Lynch named Region XV Player of the Year
After posting a stellar 2023-24 regular season and staking his claim as one of the top point guards in America, Rockland Community College men's basketball player sophomore Tayejon Lynch captured 2024 Region XV Division II Men's Basketball Player Of The Year accolades as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Lynch was chef of the Rockland Community College Hawk attack, leading the nation with a team-leading 258 assists, including a team-high 13 double-digit assist performances capped off by a career-best 18 dimes during a 93-66 victory over Region XV opponent Ulster Community College on February 20th. The Queens, New York native was instrumental in helping the Hawks men's basketball program notch a two-win improvement from a season ago with 13 victories with a massive program-defining victory over perennial Region XV power Sullivan County Community College 84-68 on February 6th.
Lynch also led the Hawks in scoring average (20.0), total points (601), field goals attempted (474), free throws made (111), free throws attempted (116), and steals (76). Lynch's 76 steals were ranked seventh in the country, while his 601 total points were good for 13th nationally.
